One Time

There are no rules for good photographs, there are only good photographs.

– Ansel Adams

One Time — Panasonic GF1, Olympus 17mm

So about this image. I had “One Time” from across the street and I knew he was coming my way. I had seen him before around my previous photo walks but this time the setting was just right. My GF1 was around my neck and as he approached(I was on the corner of the street) I began pressing that shutter until this last frame, he was right there, then tells me if I wanted to buy a chain, which I politely told him “no thanks” and then he replied “one time”.

Note
I’m loving the GF1, its capable, sufficiently small(unlike many dslr’s), and quite sharp with the correct lens. I’ve been using the less appreciated Olympus 17mm f/2.8 which renders an image with a FOV of 35mm(ok, let’s get technical 34mm). I hear great things about the Panny 20mm f/1.7 and I can see myself with it in the near future, we’ll see, but so far this combo has proven quite handy, not to mention the fitted Oly VF1.

  1. una foto fantastica que solo puede reafirmar la belleza de tu nuevo juguete y la experiencia que hacer fotos en la calle te ha dado, escogiendo el momento adecuado.

  2. Fellow Togs, thank you all for your kind words and insights. I must confess that often time when I shoot I wonder what some of you may say when you see the images, I won’t mention any names but you guys/gals know full well. Cheers and keep shooting. Loving this new format, m4/3 and loving the its main digicam in my humble opinion the GF1.

  3. Great shot, Jorge. I really appreciate how you balanced illumination of the sky & subject’s face. The look on his face puts me to mind of Sisyphus, rolling that boulder up the mountainside every day, only then to have it roll all the way back. The cigarette in his left hand adds a real human, poignant touch.

  4. Que razón tenía Ansel Adams !! Me encanta esta foto, Jorge. El punto de vista que deja ver las casas que rodean al ciclista es genial. Y el propio ciclista tiene un gran carácter para la fotografía. Muy buena. Fav !! Saludos.
