Miss You

I’d like to focus on the last part and the things we learn along the way. In these 24 weeks of continuous photography, I’ve learned quite a lot about the type of photography I like to create and also how I create that vision (gear). I realized that I don’t need complicated gear, I don’t need a blazing fast autofocus, and once again, size is of uttmost importance.
In a way, I’m glad it only took me 24 weeks to reconfirm my initial instincts. The moral of this story is follow your instincts. Don’t let people tell you that your photography because its not an APC-S sensor or full frame is not worthy and somewhat lacking. On the contrary, I feel like I can create any image based on my needs as a visual storyteller. I’m sticking to what I know best and that’s the Micro Four Thirds platform.
Relatedly, I picked up the famous Panasonic 20mm 1.7 (all these images were created by it) and I’m very impressed with this little jewel. Having had a long history with the other famous M43 pancake, the Olympus 17mm 2.8, I can honestly say they are both superb and both with their pros and cons (I’ll probably write something on this topic in the future).
I also picked up my favorite 14-42mm from the M43 camp, a lens I had owned before and responsible for a few of my favorite shots, the Olympus 14-42mm IIR (the newest version), a very compact lens which produces beautiful colors. And lastly, I picked up an Olympus E-PL1 which I had been wanting for a long time already due it having the weakest Anti Alias filter from the Olympus Pen family which echoes jpegs as sharp as a razors and its rear panel button configuration (which in my humble opinion bests the E-PL2).
I’m back to shooting with enthusiasm and my mojo has once again been rekindled. Also, I’m sure noticed the sites redesign which holds a content column at 500px wide which makes reading a lot easier.
Post titles will now be named after my favorite Rolling Stones tracks. The best rock-n-roll band there ever was and will ever be the Stones. I’ll start with “Miss You“.

There isn’t a lot left to be said. Life is simple. Sadly people are often lost on the idea. Work too hard for something and invariably theres a let down. Wait too long for something, the same. Think too hard about something and it becomes uselessly complicated. One of the more complicated parts of life is acceptance followed by enjoyment.

When life give us the choice of passion we should run into it deeply, sometimes we go out at the surface and forget the essence, until realize that we should go deeper again, that´s in short the resume of what life is all about, otherwise our look at this world will be only partial, great photos, the combo of styles and production make it worthy. Hi Jorge, lovely to see another upload from you. You still have a good way with words and you make it easy for us to understand a little about your passion and indeed the pain when you just want to leave the camera in the bag! The equipment and technical details I suppose is what floats others boats and I guess that’s ok too! But the thrill of being able to display on screen or print what you feel far outweighs the technicalities and hardware in my opinion. Thankfully the good Lord made us all different and that’s what makes life do interesting. Keep up the good work. Best regards.

“You must do what feels good,” I think that’s really the way to go. In these days, when I begin to think too much about my own line of approach in photography, the best gear, the best PP, the best subjects, etc, I just stop, grab my camera and go shoot something! Too much rationale can impair ones creativity, I think. However, I also think one must pass through this kind of inner questionings at some point. M4/3 is also my favorite platform because it seems to me the best compromise between IQ and portability. Even so, I often carry a small sensor compact in my trouser pocket as a “note book”.
BTW, I totally agree with Wouter in the question of the images width in your new layout. I think your images deserve to be displayed on a bigger size.

Thanks Antonio, that’s a great recipe for breaking out of the mold and start shooting. M43 is, I think as well, the best compromise between IQ and portability, well said, I couldn’t agree more. After dabbling with all types of cameras m43 just makes me want to shoot.

I really digg it that you get your act together what you want in photography and what you want to use for your photography. Maybe therefore I think the second photography is very meaningful. Simple, yet powerful.
I have to admit though that I miss the wider main column with the larger photographs. It feels like there is an emphasize on the reading now instead of the viewing.
