Watching my Isabel study for her medical boards late into the evening. All images courtesy of the Limited Edition Ricoh GR (more on this later) and the Iconic Film pack from Really Nice Images.

You might find this post I did on the Ricoh GR a while back useful. Great little camera, still loving mine after a lot of use.

Thanks, I’ll check it out.
Jorge
The first shot of your daughter’s hand is ace. I love it. I hope she does well.
Thanks, it my better half, I don’t have any children yet.
opps my bad – either way the image is ace 🙂
Lol no worries. Cheers
Hi Jorge
Thanks for your blog, I really love your style and how you picture the moments of life on Earth.
And thanks for discovering those presets, they’re absolutely fantastic especially in colour. Rollei Digitise and old Kodachrome work like magic. I spent the whole evening scrolling around my Lightroom library and applying them here and there.
Thanks Silvy, I appreciate it. Yes, these presets, Really Nice Image iconic and faded pack are very very very nice. I’ll be publishing a post later on tonight with a review with lots of images in BW & Color and for my readers a nice discount coupon. I’m finding these very malleable and quite versatile for my style of photography. I’ll be sure to check out those two you mentioned as well.
Oops… seems I’ve been a bit impatient to buy it straight away 🙂
Its so worth it though 🙂
That first shot with Isabel’s hand is just perfect! Great work Jorge. You’ve got some fantastic stuff on your site.
Derek.
Thanks Derek, coming from you, I am truly humbled. Derek get ready, I’ll be calling to hire you. Hopefully my younger brother will get married within the next few years and I’d like you and Patrick to photograph the event – flying you in, hotel, etc, the whole nine yards. I’m super pumped for that event of course and your imagery for that day.
I’m on board Jorge. Sounds like an adventure to look forward to. I’m heading back from Asia tomorrow. 42 hours of trains, planes (x3) and automobiles. This adventure is truly over :o(
Derek.
All the best to Isabel Jorge!
I just got the GR as well. I’ve had the original GRD and a GX100. Both used to death! I always had one of them with me in my bag no matter what other camera I had out for the day. It always proved itself in situations where a more obtrusive camera could have gotten me into a situation that might have been tough to get out of. I love all the options of the GR and am exploring what is there. As of late, due to the weather up here in NYC, it is all that I am carrying. Light, compact, and very customizable.
Thanks Keith! Good deal on the GR, welcome to the “club”. This little puppy is so customizable its not even funny, I have yet to really play with all the settings but I’m loving the 35mm crop mode and I’m using that mode permanently on my [Limited Edition] GR. Be sure to add the twitter tag #ricohgr to keep track of those upcoming posts. Cheers!
Great photos! How do you like that Iconic Film pack as opposed to VSCO or Silver Efex? I just picked up the GR myself. The photos bring back memories of my own board studying..is she in medical school or residency? If I’m seeing it right, it looks like she’s preparing for Step 1 Boards? Good luck to her!
Thanks Herman, she’s prepping hard. She’s a physician from Cuba, thus she needs to be board approved for all steps before applying to residency, maybe Pediatrics, Family Med, but she loves Derm. We’ll see what the future brings her.
The GR is surely a great cam. I’m loving the Film Pack very much so far. I’m finding them quite easy to play with and arrive to various color/bw palettes. I’ll have a formal review in a few weeks with further thoughts and images including color as well.
Which specialty are you in?
Good for her! I wish her the best of luck — I know it’s a tough road for foreign physicians to jump through all the hoops to be able to practice here in the States, despite the widespread need for more (especially primary care) physicians. I recently read a USA Today article highlighting this exact problem, where many physicians from overseas were left doing non-medical related jobs while they were going through the hoops. I’m currently in my last year of residency in family medicine in Milwaukee, WI.
Thanks Herman I appreciate it, its a long road for sure but with many rewards. Family Med is a great field and she’s certainly considering it as well but her options are open for future residency opportunities. Good luck with the GR and show some images from Milwaukee 🙂
