When it comes to caring for your loved one, in this case the Ricoh GR, the choices are plentiful but only one truly stands out for their level of workmanship and attention to detail in this range of compact cameras ― the Gariz Ricoh GR half case. When it arrived, I immediately ripped the box open as the anticipation was flat out killing me. Everything about this brand and case just exudes quality. As I first glanced over the half case I was completely awe stricken, its was absolutely beautiful and match my custom red ring GR to perfection.
The quality of the leather and stitching is quite obvious its very high quality. It feels soft to touch like a nice pair of Ferragamo and something you must experience for yourself. The images I’m about to display don’t do justice to how nice and comfortable this half case truly is. From an operational standpoint, the Ricoh GR Gariz half case can qualifies as above average. It doesn’t add considerable bulk to the GR and adds a nice and comfortable touch to an already classic camera. I particularly like using the half case when I’m out and about walking around Miami Beach and cruising around Lincoln Road or my usual walks around Coral Gables and just enjoying myself.
The bottom of the case is made of a shiny metal that doesn’t add weight to the case, the case itself is very light and I suspect the metal is some kind of alloy and that it would stand the test of time. I love how the bottom of the case is open towards the battery compartment making switching batteries a breeze and silly simple. The half case also makes charging your GR simple as well and the back side of the case is unobtrusive. The bottom of the plate also has a standard tripod mount and works like charm ― a nice touch in my opinion. I can honestly say that after about 3 weeks of continued the case feels wonderful and truly makes an attractive camera that much more alluring, not to mention a conversation starter ― guys, think girls coming up to you and asking you questions. 🙂
Alongside the case as an optional accessory you can add a matching wrist strap which I absolutely have fallen head of heels in love with the XS-WS2. It matches the case perfectly and adds a very petite cord that’s very discrete but yet does the job as a functioning wrist strap very well. Its so nice I’m also using it on my Fuji XE1. Price, a factor that some might consider in their purchase. Well, I’m happy to report that at less than a $100 USD or about $64 British Pounds you can have this great combo of half case and wrist strap ― in my opinion, a very affordable price for two wonderful accessories which will add to your Ricoh GR experience.
The product images from Gariz are so good that I decided to use theirs instead of mine for the images below as its same the custom red ring GR, make you sure you click on the images above and below for a larger view. In the end, I highly recommend the Ricoh GR Gariz half case and wrist strap ― a nice an worthy addition to anyones kit.
