RIP Mi Querido Tio

Fuji XE1 The Boyer Effect

I recently read an awesome post from Robert Boyer titled the Fuji X-Series The Emotional Appeal. There Robert shared Bert Stephani’s views and experiences with the Fuji X system via youtube video. This video I had missed but I’m so glad I got a chance to see it. Brett’s views about personal and professional work are spot on. Sometimes I get paid photography work but most of my work is personal some more intimate than others but nonetheless personal. The key word  being personal and my Fuji XE1 & XF 35mm gives me such a feeling. I’m able to intrude more into those private spaces and photograph more from a different perspective. Its quite difficult to put words to feelings but such is the case with the Fuji X-Series. Further down the post Robert elucidated some of the reasons he shoots film and a comment he made on this post really struck a nerve with me. Also one of the reasons I still shoot film – sort of a level set every couple of weeks. Helps …

Towards Recovery

I love him dearly, more than he can ever imagine, but sometimes its tough to open up in such a way. You see, my father is a man of few words, stern, old school in child rearing, but with a soft heart deep down below. Today, he’s recovering slowly from his recent brain surgery and I’m just glad I have to the opportunity to tell him in life how much he really means to me. I just need to find the courage and perhaps the right words because its not something he’s use to hearing but I will follow through on this sentiment∗ Image captured with the Fuji XE1 and Fujinon XF 18-55mm for the Rebecca Lily competition

Fuji XE1 and 35mm 1.4 a few frames

I recently acquired a new lens, the XF 35mm 1.4, and I’ve barely gotten a chance to shoot it. This past weekend I attended a dinner party and I got to put it to good use. To say its my favorite XF lens so far is understatement. Much has already been written on the capabilities of this lens so I won’t add to that but I will share the images this combination is able to produce.   All images shot with the XE1 and XF 35mm

Ricoh GR and DSPTCH Wrist and Sling Strap Review

I love my Ricoh GR and so I want to treat with some nice accessories but they most always enhance the user experience of this great little compact. Straps as you know there are a dime in a dozen as I searched and searched I stumbled upon a manufacturer that seemed to be on point with the style and usability factor that I was searching for. So with that said in comes DSPTCH the makers of this wrist and sling strap that take your Ricoh GR to the next level. First off, I love the braided wrist strap, its very easy to use in the field with a great feeling your camera strap won’t break off as its handled on the field especially through a crowd. A feeling I had with the original strap that comes with the GR. In my opinion, I think Ricoh could’ve done a better job considering the cost of the GR but such is life and compromises had to be made (I suppose). Thankfully, DSPTCH didn’t compromise at all with …

Peace and Love

Sometimes all you need is a little peace and love to experiment all the good things God has graced us with. Today, I’m grateful for many things but specially for my father’s health and continued recovery. His latest CAT scan came out favorably and he’s on his way to a great recovery.       Image shot with the XE1 and XF 18-55mm (Imagine a tilt shift lens from Fuji)
