Fujinon XF 35mm F2.0 WR First Impressions

The new Fujinon XF 35mm F2.0 WR is Fuji’s latest addition to its lens line up. The past rumors proved to be right after all and Fuji decided to make a sharp super fast focusing 35mm lens but this time F2.0 and weather resistant (WR). I don’t believe this new lens replaces what many already consider to be a classic, the highly esteemed and already well proven Fujinnon XF 35mm 1.4R, but on the contrary, compliments the Fujinon lens lineup for different photography applications.

I recevied my XF 35mm F2.0 this past Friday morning from my usual dealer and I couldn’t be happier. The weather has been relatively bad down here but I managed to make a few photographs all wide open except Mr. Froggie at 2.8 and one of the burgundy flower(the last one).

Personally, I’m very very please with the bokeh of this lens, its absolutely gorgeous. As far as focusing speed on the XT1, well, let’s just call it “Speedy Gonzalez” is very very quick, locking focus on its subject instantly and quitely, no lens shatter like on the 1.4R, none of that here.

So the questions now becomes, do you buy XF 35mm F2.0 if you already own the XF 35mm 1.4R? Well, if money is not an issue, then yes by all means get them both. If you had to get one first due to your budget or other reasons, then you must ask yourself do you need the light gathering ability of the 1.4R or do you need the WR and greater focusing speed and a smaller lens for street and documentary photography especially on the XT1. Personally, I’ll add the 1.4R to my kit soon, its a no brainer Fuji has made another jewel here. More images and insights coming soon.

Followers of this space would know that I’ve been absent from blogging and social media streams so far in 2015 and I happy to say and I’m returning once again to these various spaces. The blog got a facelift and hopefully navigation and finding content is a lot easier now

Did you meant the f2.0 ?

    • No, it’s what I said. I own the XF 35mm F2.0 WR and I’ll also get the 1.4R as well for different applications. I just got into Fuji X once again so I need to re purchase the gear all over again.
