Rokinon 85mm 1.4 XF Mount

Well look who arrived in the XF scene to brighten up our days. The Rokinon 85mm 1.4 in native XF mount. No more adapters to fumble with. I was chatting on Twitter with Riley Joseph in terms of the size and guess what, its 17mm shorter than the XF 55-200mm. The 85mm 1.4 comes in at 78 x 101 mm versus the XF zoom at 75 x 118 mm. So not bad at all for a portrait lens at 1.4. There are some portraits and images of the lens mounted on an X-E1 over at the Fuji X Spot forum here.

Writing Workflow

When it comes to writing and establishing any sort of workflow, be it photographing or writing, certain applications make the task easier and such is the case of Ulysses III and Daedalus for iOS. I’ve tried just about all the writing applications in both OS X and iOS. From those, the most notables were Byword and iA Writer two popular applications that continue to do well in Appstore and cause a general hoopla all over the internet and iOS bloggers. I used both extensively but I always felt something was missing especially on the desktop. For me these aforementioned apps lacked the organizational structure I was seeking. I don’t know if its because I’m 41 years old but I like folders and the structure they give outlines, projects, email (imap), you name it, but such structure was exactly what I was missing on the Mac.

X Series 02 | 2014

Advils, Sudafed, and NyQuil Feeling sick is always a bummer and this week has been one those, yes the infamous ― flu came down upon me. Advils, Sudafed, and NyQuil, have been the protagonists of these past couple of days. Runny nose, endless amount coughing, and for some odd reason lack of sleep. Isabel says I sound like an old rooster, go figure ah. Unrelatedly, I switched over to the X-Pro 1 as my primary work horse thus leaving behind the highly enjoyable X-E1. Truth be told and hand on my heart, I fell in love hybrid viewfinder of the X100 LE and I really wanted to have that experience in my main body and XF 35mm 1.4R. I’ll be writing my own review of the Fuji X-Pro 1 from the perspective of someone coming from the X-E1 so look for that section in the Projects tab. captured with the Fuji X-PRO1 and Fuji X100 LE

OVF Magic with the X-Pro 1 & X100

I recently joined the OVF side of Fuji Xseries cameras and this post clarified a lot of my questions. Just when I was looking for answers this post popped out. Its a two part series so be sure to follow with the next one once your there. I shoot fujifilm exclusively; I use two X-Pro 1’s and a X100s for my wedding work and travels. This set up works for me, however there was a learning curve involved, as the concept of these X-Series cameras were different from the D-SLR’s that I was used to. The biggest challenge I faced was learning how these cameras acquired focus, I spent hours online seeking relevant information and even more time applying what I read and testing things out.

X Series 01 | 2014

Welcome to my X Series Project for 2014 shot exclusively with the Fuji X100 LE & Fuji X-Pro 1. This project will serve as a visual journal as it documents my photographic journey in 2014. Its rekindling the love affair with photography and creating that vision, seeing the through mundane and creating something. With that said, it all begins today. I told a friend recently to forget about his doubts about his photography and just concentrate on himself and create for himself and that’s exactly what I plan to do this year with this series. When you think about it there is so much photography all around us from our loved ones, to our surroundings, just about everywhere. Every time I think about this I remember one of my favorite quotes from Ansel Adams: You don’t make a photograph just with a camera. You bring to the act of photography all the pictures you have seen, the books you have read, the music you have heard, the people you have loved.” all images captured with …
